GAME
RULES:
To Start
Game:
Required
pieces to play:
4
marbles for each player, and two dice.
From two to four players can play Temple Challenge.
This game can be played as partners when playing with 4 players.
To
start the game the players can choose who starts first or they can roll
the dice to determine who gets to go first by who rolls the highest
number.
Arrange
4 marbles of the same color for each player in the outer middle holes
on the bottom level. The 4 outer holes located to the players right
on the bottom level are the home holes.
For
a player to get a marble on the board, they must first roll both dice
and get a one or a six. A marble can then be put onto the bottom level
of holes directly in front of the hole that they choose the marble to
move out of the start holes. If a double one or double six is thrown,
or a one and a six, then more than one marble may be moved onto the
board if the player chooses to do so. If a player throws a 6 or 1 and
the other dice is another number other than a six or a one, then a player
can move the marble they just put on the board, or another marble that
is already in play the amount of spaces that the other dice was thrown.
Marbles
are moved counter clockwise, or to the right during play except when
moving up levels.
If
a player moves a marble from start onto the board and lands on another
player's marble, they can remove the other players' marble and place
it back into the other players start row in any position that they choose.
Players
may also take another players marble back to start if they land on it
during play on the bottom level, or land on it when moving upwards in
levels.
If
a player lands on another players marble while moving around a level
above the bottom level, then the opponents marble is moved down to the
next level directly below where it was in the level they were on but
not taken back to start. If that marble lands on one below it, then
that marble is also moved down unless it is on the bottom row in which
case it is taken back to the players start row.
To
move up in levels, players must roll doubles, have marbles on the board
in play, and be able to complete moves upwards.
A
player may split the upward moves between marbles that are in play.
(Example) a player rolls a double six, they may move marbles up in levels
to equal the total of the roll, a player may choose to move up two levels
with one marble and up four levels with another.
A player may not move a marble up a level if there is not a hole to
move it into directly above. (On the corners)
If
a player rolls a double and cannot equal or split the marbles in play
to move up, then they must move marbles around the board instead.
It
is possible to roll a double and move a marble all the way to home if
a players marble is in play and in the middle of the board and can move
the marble all the way to the top and off the board to the home holes.
If a player's marble makes it to the top level but not off the board,
they must roll a double (any double) to get it off the board. If the
players marble is on the top level, and it is the only one of the player's
marbles left in play, they can either choose not to move the marble,
or move it counter clockwise on the top level as if on any other level.
If
a player only has marbles on the top level left in play, rolls a double
six or ones, and has other marbles in the start row, they can choose
to either move the marbles on the top level off the board, or start
a marble in play, but not both.
A
player cannot split a double to remove more than one marble on the top
level out of play.
The
end of the game comes when a player gets all of their marbles to their
home row.
