To Start Game:
Required pieces to play:
5 marbles, a stat sheet,
and two dice.
From one to a gazillion players can play
Corona Downs.
First, all the marbles
are placed on the board behind the start line. Marbles will be moving
to the right or counter clockwise during play.
The two dice are rolled
to determine the odds for each marble racer from the inside track
to the outside track. For instance, if on the roll for marble racer
number one a 5 and a 2 are rolled then the odds for that racer is
7 to 1.
The house starts with
$1,000,000 (Million Dollars) and each player starts with $100,000
each to place bets on the racers. (This starting amount can be changed
if the players want to use other amounts during a game)
Each racer is worth
$1,000 a race (again this amount can be changed or even randomly set
by the roll of the dice) Example, if a player loses on a racer, they
lose a thousand bucks! But if they win on a racer they get paid whatever
the odds are on that racer: Example, if the racer has odds of 5 to
1 then they win $5,000.
A player can place bets
on more than one racer at a time.
The stat sheet is used
to keep track of the wins and losses.
The dice are rolled
for each racer until one racer crosses the finish line. One designated
player can roll all the dice for the game or each player can take
turns, in a large room full of players it may be easier for two or
more designated players to roll the dice, or a non participant that
is not betting to roll the dice.
End of the game comes
when someone loses all their cash allowance or when a set number of
races are run as determined by the players before the start of the
game.
With this game you have
the option to even make up your own rules, maybe you have some good
ideas for how to set up betting for this game.
Of course, for children,
(or just for fun) no betting is needed at all, races can be run just
for the fun of winning!
